There’s no better treat then a handful of fresh blackberries on a warm summer afternoon. Except, maybe, this easy-peasy Blackberry Compote!
This Compote couldn’t be any easier to make. All you need is fresh blackberries, a lemon, a little sugar, and a bit of water. Add them together and simmer until you have a wonderfully tart yet sweet compote!

Blackberry Compote
Ingredients
- 12 ounces fresh blackberries
- Zest from 1 lemon
- Juice from 1 lemon
- 2 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon water
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan.
- Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally, and lightly mashing the blackberries while you stir.
- Simmer for about 10-15 minutes, or until sauce has reduced and thickened slightly. Remove from heat and serve atop your favorite dessert!
